Max Blader competed for Charleston Southern during from 2021 to 2023. As a sophomore, he recorded personal bests at the 8K Vertcross meet (27:12.3) and at the 6K Adidas XC Challenge (19:37.6). During the track and field season, he competed in eight total meets, including the indoor and outdoor Big South Championships. Blader prepped at New Richmond and recorded prep bests of 1:57.77 in the 800 meters, 4:24 in the 1,600 meters and 15:56.2 in the 5K (XC). As a senior in high school, he was the regional and sectional champion in the 1,600 meters, placing eighth at the state championships. That cross country season, he won the section championships and was sixth at the state meet.
