JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. — Vanderbilt’s Natalie Kent advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round of the USBC’s Intercollegiate Singles Championship Tuesday while Kaylee Hitt, Vanderbilt’s other representative in this national tournament, was eliminated.
Kent, a rising sophomore from Newark, New York, defeated North Carolina A&T’s Chloe Newberry, 577-546, and Kayla Smith of Jacksonville State, 665-650, to reach the semifinals, which will be televised on a delayed basis in May by CBS Sports.
Kent will face Sara Duque of Wichita State on one side of the bracket, while Crystal Elliott of Jacksonville State meets Haley Bozych of Lindenwood on the other.
Hitt was eliminated by Melanie Katen of North Carolina A&T, 693-576, in the first round of the 30-woman field. She had qualified by winning a sectional tournament in Michigan last month.
The event is being held at the Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.
