NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Graduate student Veronica Fraley is the SEC Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Fraley won the discus with a 61.37-meter throw, a collegiate season best, at the LSU Alumni Gold. Her discus mark was 1.5 meters farther than the runner-up. Fraley also placed second in the shot put with a 16.73-meter mark and ninth in the hammer throw with a personal best. Her efforts in the discus moved her to fourth in the NCAA and second in the SEC.She is also ranked eighth in the SEC, 22nd in the NCAA in the shot put.
This is the second time in her collegiate career that Fraley has received this honor. She was also named the SEC Co-Field Athlete of the week on April 25, 2023.
Fraley and the rest of the Vanderbilt track and field team will be back in action Friday when they host the Music City Challenge.
