NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt swimming will conclude the regular season Friday with a home meet against Tulane at Centennial Sportsplex that will begin at 2 p.m., but not before the Commodores recognize a group of eight seniors and graduate students.
Prior to the start of the competition—Vandy’s first at home since Oct. 28—the Dores will honor Abby Francis, Faith Knelson, Sophia Kosturos, Gabriela Pierobon Mays, Ella Platek, Maddie Smith, Alina Stout and Trinity Tran.
“This is always the most fun meet of the year,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “There’s a lot of excitement going into the meet because of that, we’ll have an alumni event afterward, all the parents are here, so it’s going to be a great environment on the pool deck. Obviously, we need to watch our emotions and not be too high so that we can approach each race focusing on being competitive and have a great meet.”
The Commodores are coming off a sweep of Little Rock and North Texas last weekend, led by a pair of individual victories from Stout. Mercedes Traba broke her own school record while claiming the 1,000 freestyle, one of two events in which Vandy took the top two spots; Knelson and Francis also achieved the feat in the 50 breaststroke.
In addition, Vanderbilt won both relays—the 200 medley and 400 free—in the meet, highlighted by taking both first and second place in the latter to conclude the competition.
Vanderbilt leads the all-time series with Tulane, 9-6, after claiming four of the last five meetings. The Dores picked up a 149-111 victory over the Green Wave on Nov. 6, 2021, in the last match-up between the two programs in Nashville.
The meet will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
