Cambridge Named Naismith Defensive Semifinalist

Cambridge is one of 10 players named to a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –Vanderbilt women’s basketball graduate student Jordyn Cambridge was one of the 10 players named to a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalist.

Cambridge paces the SEC and ranks third in NCAA Division I in steals with 111 this season. The 5-9 guard’s 3.6 steals per game is the third-highest average in the nation, while it is also tops in the SEC. The Nashville, Tennessee, native has collected three or more steals in 23 games this season.

The guard’s efforts have helped Vanderbilt become one of the premier steals teams in the nation this season. The Commodores’ 10.2 steals per game ranks 38th nationally. Cambridge is Vanderbilt’s all-time steals list with 345 career steals, which also ranks ninth all-time in SEC history.

The current list of semifinalists will be narrowed to four finalists on March 20. The Naismith Defensive Player of the Year will be announced on April 3.
